I know that Linux users (developers as well - zuzuf =P ) and windows users were talking about package building.
Googled "Linux Installer packaging."
Got these:
http://www.debian.org/doc/FAQ/ch-pkg_basics.en.html Debian linux/GNU installer package managing
http://www.linux.com/archive/feed/60380 Install jammer. Dedicated to linux only
http://linuxhelp.blogspot.com/2005/09/a ... aller.html vendor neutral installer packages for linux
for windows users, i present;
Windows searches:
http://www.pantaray.com/aboutus.html "pantary installer tools"
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa302344.aspx :unlock the features of windows installer"
http://www.pcmech.com/article/hidden-in ... indows-xp/ "secret MSI installer for xp-pcmech" this works in versions going up to windows 7, dont listen to the "only in xp" thing.
i even tried it, but you need some sort of command file or INI file or whatever.....
good reads, should help with future packaging.
